The Impact® system was preffered to control both consolidation and differential settlements according to the design team’s requirements for the uncontrolled fill layers with a thickness of 6-11m.
The solution is to support foundations of YTU Teknopark area consisting of Nuclear Medicine Building, Administrative Building, Executive Building and Water Tank.
Uncontrolled fill extends between 6m and 11.6m below the ground surface underlain by marn-limestone scarred strong clay-sand and sandy, clayey layers to the depth of 30m.
A total of 13,600 meters Impact® elements were installed between 1.2m to 1.5m square pattern on center to depth of 8m to control the settlement to less than 2cm for the uncontrolled fill layers.
